U.S. President Donald Trump has moved to strip federal funding from National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), signing an executive order that halts direct financial support. The directive also targets indirect funding by prohibiting public radio and TV licensees from using federal dollars to finance these outlets.
The White House framed the decision as a crackdown on what it called ’woke propaganda’ disseminated under the guise of news, alleging billions in taxpayer funds had been misallocated. The Trump administration is reportedly scrutinizing Biden-era policies as part of a broader media funding review.
